NAM 5K CHALLENGE

The NAM 5k Challenge is a 5k race within a larger 5K race, which is held after The Woodlands Marathon and Half Marathon are underway.  Participants run (or walk) the NAM 5k Challenge by officially entering the5K through The Woodlands Marathon website, followed by registering with Team NAM for the NAM 5k Challenge. In recognition of participant commitment to raise at least $200 of sponsorship donations to NAM in conjunction with running the 5K and participation in the Challenge, Team NAM provides for free the preparatory training for the 5k, and each Challenge participant receives a Team NAM t-shirt.

Team NAM offers three different training tracks for 5k preparation as follows:
* Have fun, participate to finish - primary aim to develop a base level of fitness to enable a good finish without undue exertion.
* Reasonably good run - improve fitness to run a reasonably good race
* Performance - train for 5k with goal to turn in best time, perhaps for a Personal Record or competitive performance objective.
Free Team NAM training for the 5k begins at 9:30AM on Saturdays, at entrance to south side of Meyer Park located at 7700 Cypresswood Drive, just west of Stuebner Airline Road.

Challenge Scoring. Team NAM will score NAM 5k Challenge participants based on official 5K time results by gender and by the following age brackets, 60+, 50s, 40s, 30s, and under 30 according to age on race day. Every NAM covenant congregation is automatically entered into Team competition assuming sufficient congregation member participation, with five as the minimum number of runners to score for each team. Additional teams can be formed at will with participants identifying their team affiliation. Team scoring is based on team member placements in each of the gender/age brackets, counting the top five runners from each team with the best team having the lowest score. Ties are settled based on bracket placement of sixth or seventh runner as may be required.

The NAM 5k Challenge will recognize individual and Team performance as well as individual and Team fundraising results. Participants should attempt to collect all sponsorship donations within two weeks after race day.

Registration. Go to The Woodlands Marathon website for information on the 5K and to officially enter the race. Download here and complete/print out a registration form to the NAM 5k Challenge. It is possible to either fill the registration form out by hand or type in data before printing it.
